Description: A beautiful 1700's German Yaeger Rifle with rare hand made "swamped (tapered) barrel" elegantly inlaid with original owner's name in solid silver. This highly ornamented Yaeger (Hunter) Rifle was likely owned by the grounds and forest Manager of a nobleman's Estate. It was originally a flintlock later converted to more reliable percussion ca 1830's. It features a strong hooked breech design. Highly carved stock is inlaid with ebony and bone stars. Superbly ornamented stock side plate covering hidden storage compartment. Intricate brass designs and hand checkered wrist make for an impressive appearance. An old and strong solid brass strip repair to wrist is shown in pics. Handsome super wide elegant solid brass trigger guard. The barrel is octagonal and of rare "swamped" (shaved down at original manufacture to save weight for hunter) curved swept design. The 29" barrel is 75 caliber, well rifled, and boasts seven lands and seven grooves. This was a very high end and expensive gun in its day! One of a kind.
