The wood is aged to a uniform color with no chips, cracks or missing wood with the exception of a surface crack in front of the lock (see photos); however, there are dents and dings (see photos). The stock is solid (not loose) and has a Grrman Silver entrance thimble/nose cap, two steel thimbles, brass trigger guard and crescent butt plate. The metal finish is a mottled brown patina with some oxidation (see photos). The gun is 48" over all length with a 32" barrel (What I can see of the bore looks dark....I have not cleaned this gun) the ram rod appears to be original to the gun. There is a fixed rear sight and a blade front sight. The double set trigger and lock function as they should. The lock is stamped Goulcher and it appears to be a converted flintlock (see photos). The brass butt plate and trigger guard are undamaged (see photos). The old wooden ram rod matches the gun perfectly. The barrel is stamped Gump and at the sale they said this gun was made by the Gumpf (or Gump) family of Lancaster Pa. Christopher Gumpf was Born 1761 and he was apprenticed to Jacob Messersmith in 1779 at 18 years of age. Started his own business in 1791 and was active until 1798 and after. Also decendent Christopher GUMPF worked in Lancaster, Pa., before 1830 until after 1888. I can not guarantee a gun this old will shoot however it appears, with a little freshening up, this gun could be back in the field or on the target range. Everything appears old and original to my untrained eye, but since I can not guarantee the origins of this gun I am offering it with a 100% satisfaction guarantee, if it does not live up to your expectations in any way return it for a full and speedy refund including your return shipping (see my feedback). We trade guns. No reserve. NO FFL REQUIRED....CAN BE SHIPPED TO A RESIDENTIAL ADDRESS. I do not recommend firing any used weapon until it has been thoroughly examined by a certified gunsmith.
