It has been used almost exclusively for gun stocks over the last 50 years. It comes with about 150 patterns, mostly old Winchester stocks (100 butt stocks and 50 fore stocks). It is manual - no computer. It takes about an hour and 15 minutes to cut eight blanks from a plank, set up the machine with the blanks, and rough cut & inlet eight stocks. The stocks are then ready for rough sanding and stocking to inventory or shipping. The stocks, after sanding, are 100% shaped, about 95% inletted and slightly oversized. The machine is 11 feet wide and 18 feet long, composed of steel, cast aluminum, electrical motors, etc. It runs on 3-phase power or a phase converter (220v). This machine originally was used on a WWII battle ship tender. Appropriately, it is battle ship gray! There is also a boring device, with bits, for cutting magazine tube holes in fore stocks and stock bolt holes in butt stocks. We believe the patent is: 1,689,108, granted October 23, 1928, to Alfred V. Breed. The machine is disassembled and ready to move, located near Fort Collins, Colorado.
