Here is B Square’s well made scope mount for the Remington 870 Express and other LT-20 Remington Shotguns. It houses a Simmons 2 1/2 power Duplex type Crosshair Shotgun Scope. Manufacturer is B Square of Jacksonville Fl. Construction on the base itself is aircraft grade lightweight alloy, gloss black anodized finish. Mounting bolts are blue steel. The Rail apparatus is traditional Weaver, now known as Picatinny, 5 slot. This set came to us on its original home, a 1992 production model 870 Express in 20 gauge, so we estimate the scope and mounts were manufactured in the mid 1990s. This mount will fit a Remington 870 Express in 20 gauge, or any LT-20 series Remington 1100 or 870. It will not fit an LW20, will not fit a 12 gauge, will not fit the brake shoes on a 1957 Chevrolet Impala. Scope is a Simmons model 21005, ancestor to the currently produced Pro Hunter series, manufactured in the World’s Most Populous Nation. Construction is similar to the mount, aircraft grade aluminum alloy with black matte finish and Simmons trademark red ring on the objective end of the tube. Objective lens is blue tint multicoat 20mm, 1 inch tube, and 32mm ruby tint eyepiece. Overall scope length is 7 1/4 inches; and field of view at 100 yards is 38 feet. Surface wear on this setup is minimal to moderate, faint contact whitening here and there. We rate it all as Very Good, close to Excellent, 85 percent vicinity, but photos ought to suffice for our shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. It is all excellent mechanically. We note that the owner had his elevation setting low, so installation probably needs to involve a shim between the bottom part of the front ring and the scope tube it contacts. Brass shim stock is readily available; and aluminum foil works fine. We do not detect any abrasions or damage to the lens coatings. Replacement pricing on this setup is upwards of $150.00.
