Smith & Wesson .357 Magnum model 619 Stainless 4 inch L Frame 7 shot Fixed Sight Model 65-8 Successor 2005-2006 Only Near Mint in Box Guns > Pistols > Smith & Wesson Revolvers > Full Frame Revolver
Description: At the discontinuance of the Model 65 .357 M&P Magnum in 2005, Smith & Wesson made a partial resurrection, both of the 65-8 and of the 681, with this peculiar revolver, the Model 619. Frame is L Round Butt, and the barrel, like the final 65 specimen, the 8th change, is two piece. Sights are conventional serrated ramp front and frame integral fixed notch rear, just like the 65s were. Construction is stainless steel, with MIM style .375 smooth faced combat satin stainless trigger and matching .265 service hammer. The firing pin is floating type with flat faced hammer, on the order of changes introduced around 2002, where Smith & Wesson invented its internal hammer lock system. The barrel is 4 inch, and absence of an ejector rod shroud comes closer to the 65 configuration than its other features. Grips are original factory Michaels black rubber combat. Weight empty is 37 1/2 ounces with center of gravity at the trigger. Cylinder capacity is 7 rounds of .357 Remington Magnum or .38 Smith & Wesson Special ammunition interchangeably. This particular specimen comes to us from its exclusive and original owner, a careful young collector from our home county of McNairy in West Tennessee. It is in its original blue plastic flat case with gray hinges and correct numbers. Box contains all the original equipment: protective Nox paper, Master Cable Lock, two keys for its internal lock, instruction manual, never executed factory registration papers, and fired brass envelope dating from March of 2005. This specimen, then, is second production run, since the first run debuted at the 2005 SHOT show in January of that year. Surface detractions are negligible, no more rotation marking than many brand new Smith & Wessons we see on the cylinder. We rate this 619 as Near Mint in Box, 95 percent vicinity by our estimate. Photos, at any rate, ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. It is certainly excellent mechanically. Cylinder face is black on all seven chamber faces, but only faintly so. From our knowledge of its owner, and from its superb condition, we estimate this 619 has been fired fewer than 50 times. We did not have to remove any copper residue from the muzzle recess area like we had to with the North Carolina and Ohio Department of Corrections revolvers we had last year. On double action, the hammer travels fully 25 degrees on all 7 positions after the cylinder times into place. On single action, the hammer travels fully 35 to 40 degrees on all 7 after the cylinder times; and the single action trigger pull is a crisp original 4 1/2 pounds. Lateral play to the cylinder is negligible. Cylinder face to forcing cone gap is a perfect .006. Blast effect to the under side of the frame top strap is negligible, only carbon deposits with no impress at all, much less anything like cutting. This is a superb specimen of a rare Smith & Wesson. Don't let your buddies use your account. Registered user must be the buyer, with his or her own money. Buying firearms and related items for other people can result in felony charges. Don't try, either, to circumvent any law; for example, a California civilian may not buy a high capacity magazine and have it shipped to his brother-in-law in Nevada. That is a felony. GA Pay buyers are NOT charged until we confirm we have the item and are ready to ship it. The same thing is true for phone-in, fax-in, and mail-in payments. In this respect, and in several others, Guns America outshines all its competitors. This is the best firearms website there is, hands down.
