This gun has been listed for a while as an 1884 made date. we entered in a search location for Marlin and that is what came back. A lot more research shows the serial number was used a 2nd time in 1905. The 1884 dated gun was a 45/70 and the 1905 was 30-30. The second run of serial numbers started when they started the model 93 in 1905 with 4 digit serial numbers and ran to 1914 with 6 digit serial numbers when they quit putting smokeless steal stamp on the barrels in 1914. So this is a 1905.
