Manufacturer was Royal Ordnance Factory Fazakerley of Liverpool, England. Production Year was 1944, and the rifle is so marked, a continuance of the Lend-Lease program to assist our British Allies. Construction is steel metal, brass buttplate, and walnut wood. Barrel is 25 inch 4 Groove, with block supported, dovetailed blade front sight and folding two position aperture rear, with basic combat rear and long range calibration leaf with marks up to 1300 meters. Magazine is 10 shot detachable. Note that the stock has been sporterized, with the schnabel area and upper hand guard removed. This was common, even customary, among returning vets and hunters when these rifles sold for $10 or $15 apiece 60 and 70 years ago. Apart from the stock modification, it is entirely original, even with the painted cartouche on the stock’s left side. Letters and markings are sharp and clear throughout. Since this is a bring back specimen, or imported and even sporterized prior to 1968, it does not bear any importer’s stamp. Surface detractions are moderate, principally stock scouring and edge wear to the metal. We rate this Lee Enfield as Very Good / Sporterized, 80 percent vicinity by our estimate, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves.
