Ruger .357 Blackhawk 6 ½ in. Adjustable VG 1980 Guns > Pistols > Ruger Single Action Revolvers > Blackhawk Type
Description: From the final year of the Carter Era comes this solid and attractive Ruger New Model Blackhawk in .357 Magnum caliber with 6 ½ inch barrel and adjustable sights. Its chief detraction is some weathering over one of the cylinder chamber's outside surface, doubtless where its former Texas owner laid it in the pickup for a ride or two before it became the property of the Texas Department of Safety. That one area only affects less than 10 percent of the revolver's total surface, and we rate it at 80 percent overall finishwise. Photos, however, should allow interested parties to judge finish for themselves. Grip panels are the original walnut, and each panel has a half dozen or fewer light to moderate pecks. Left panel, interestingly, has what appears to be four notches below the screw escutcheon, probably a tribute to dispatched armadillos or jackrabbits. Holster wear is light to moderate on the sharp edges, and bluing is almost full strength with the exception of the one area we have mentioned. Frame and loading gate have a very nice traditional Ruger purplish hue to their finish. Forward trigger guard screw and sight elevation screw show light stress indications; all the other screws are as good as new. Bore is excellent, bright, and clean; and the cylinder chambers all show full strength original factory mill marks with no pitting at all. Blast effect to the under side of the frame top strap directly above the barrel's forcing cone is minimal, a tiny shallow crease that covers about 10 percent of the frame width. Cylinder face shows minimal blast effect as well, and the cylinder face bluing is full strength. This revolver has not been fired many times, certainly not with gas check magnums or anything of the sort. Cylinder times correctly at full cock on all six positions on a very slow hammer pull, and the single action trigger pull is a very nice 3 pounds with minimal travel. Replacement price on the Blue Blackhawks in our area is now over $500 apiece. We're offering this very solid, very attractive 28-year-old, however, for only $ 349.95
