Description: The C Grade Fox is considered by most to be one of the most handsome of the A.H. Fox Graded guns, with its finely cut English scroll, game scene engraving, nicely engraved trigger guard, and European walnut figured well on both sides of the stock. Many guns offered for sale today lack information on which to base a decision. Most offered for sale at low prices have poor stock dimensions (making them impossible to shoot well for most shooters) amateur repairs, poor restorations, and even cut barrels and stocks. Making wise decisions requires adequate information. This fine Philly Fox CE Grade was made during the best times at the A.H. Fox Gun Co. when Ansley himself was in full charge and doing the final inspection of guns himself. Made in 1910, has all the internal parts highly polished, the engraving is deep and expertly cut (noticeably superior to later guns), the wood was specified as “extra nice stock” and was well figured on both sides, and the barrels were finely struck. We have the factory order card for this gun, and It shows the gun was shipped just as you see it now, with original barrel length, chokes, weight, stock dimensions, and yes, even the pad is noted on the order card. The wood, checkering, barrels, and trigger guard have been expertly restored to historical correct finishes; rust blued barrels, charcoal blue trigger guard, and a fine hand-rubbed oil finish on the stocks. The checkering is superb, the screws near perfect, and the stock has very modern stock dimensions with 14 ½” LOP from the factory. The 30” No. 3 weight Krupp Steel barrels have excellent bores, factory bore diameter, lots of wall thickness, and are tight as new on the hinge pin and breech face and are choke M/F. Clients in today’s world shoot these guns in the field and at the traps, and this gun is mechanically excellent in all ways. THIS IS A “VFI CERTIFIED GUN”, meaning we stripped the forend iron and receiver to the smallest parts, ran it through the Ultrasonic cleaner, inspected all parts for integrity and function, then lubricated and reassembled (a $325 service). VFI CERTIFIED guns carry a 90-day mechanical warranty. We have lengthened the chambers to 2 ¾” and extended the taper of the forcing cones from 5/8” to 1 ½” taper making the gun shoot softer and have better patterns with today’s modern loads. YOU CANNOT COMPARE THIS FOX TO OTHER FOX GUNS THAT HAVE BEEN NEGLECTED FOR DECADES. NO MORE MONEY NEEDS TO BE SPENT. THE GUN IS SUPERB IN ALL WAYS. We can alter the chokes if you wish within a few days of purchase (or use RSTSHELLS SPREADER LOADS TO SHOOT WIDER PATTERNS WITH EXISTING CHOKES). Fox guns with English grips are few and far between, so if you like straight stocks you would be hard pressed to find a better Fox CE Grade gun. With the cost of restoring a fine gun properly and a wait time of over a year, buying this gun avoids both added expenses and time waiting for your gun to come back. Finding Fox guns built under direct supervision of Ansley Herman Fox himself is a definite plus.
