Description: CONSIDER TRADE FOR RUGER #1 IN 30-06 CALIBER or 1885 Winchester high wall Falling Block octagon in 30-06.

Will trade my Remington Model 30 Express and a Ruger 10/22 stainless steel with European Mannlicher Walnut stock. Superb condition. Valued at $650. See separate ad for it on Z. The Mannlicher rifle stock was designed for carbine length barrels and used on mountain rifles in the European alps. The purpose of the full length stock is to protect the barrel from damage, especially if the barrel was used a brake in the case of a fall on snow.

Serial number 15199. Can't find the exact year of manufacture, if anyone can help. In amazing condition. Gunsmith says 90% on blue. Walnut in very good condition with minor dings. Nice checkering. Has the classic crescent butt plate and Schnabel forearm. Came with regular open sights not Lyman. Classic dog leg bolt.

Has S in rear of stock. I understand this meant the upgrade walnut stock with checkering on the grips and bottom of forearm. Classic 90 year old hunting rifle in superb condition.

30-06 caliber and bore is shiny and bright, no pitting. Has a Weaver K-4 microgroove scope in excellent condition on Buehler mounts/rings. Has quality leather sling. Gun has been very well cared for. One estimate was that this gun is from the 30's, but need to verify.

Have 23 good close up photos that show every detail. Can email to serious buyers. Barrel length is about 22", if I am measuring right. Appears to be all original.

Collectible and classic. Action and trigger are smooth. Two stage military type trigger. If was ever used as a hunting rifle, it was used lightly.

Reviews on this gun are excellent. Evidently highly sought by Remington collectors. Comments from 3 Remington collectors about this gun.

1. Remington made thousands of actions for Enfield rifles in WW1. After the war, the leftover actions laid around for 10 years or more until an employee at Remington suggested that they use them up. They decided to build a sporting rifle with them. They were built from 1930 through the mid to late thirties until the leftover stock was used up. They were indeed very strong actions as the bolt dropped down into a machined slot in the receiver which acted as a third lug for the bolt. Although being a little bit on the heavy side, these are very nice rifles.

2. Received this info on the Remington Express on 7/4/21 which explains why I could not find the date of mfg. Regarding the birth date of your Remington 30 express 30-06, SN# 15199. Your rifle was most likely born between April 1918 and May 1918. Since it was a new unissued rifle, it was most likely chosen to be converted to a Remington 30 Express 30-06 model instead of any of the other calibers offered also for sale by the government. That also could be why looking for a civilian SN rather than a military SN made it unfindable. Great rifle I just wish I could afford it. In any case hope this may help in some way.

3. More info from a knowledgeable Remington collector... Nice old Remington. There should be a letter stamp in front of the receiver that can tell you month and year of manufacture. you are definitely in the ballpark when it comes to asking price.

These rifles were originally manufactured by Remington in Ilion NY and their secondary plant at Eddystone. These rifles were originally the 1917 Enfield pattern military rifle in 30.06 chambering. After WW1 was over they had a bunch of parts leftover and decided to produce a sport rifle with the extra parts.

This is the later version , it has the barrel mounted rear sight. Some time in 1930-31 maybe hard to tell with out the letter codes. These are probably one of the Strongest Mauser pattern actions ever built! They are a true Magnum length action and will handle most of the big boy shoulder dis-locater's.

Companies use this gun/action to create big bore African Safari rifles.
