The 1851 Navy is commonly considered to be one of gunfighter “Wild Bill” Hickok’s favorite handguns. This Traditions Old Silver variant is one of the most attractive. It isn’t stainless steel, but it’s more durable than standard blue. This model features a 7.5 octagonal Old Silver barrel, Old Silver frame, nickel guard, and walnut grip. Chambering is .44 Black Powder; for use with .451, .454, or .457 round balls or similar diameter projectiles with Black Powder or Black Powder Equivalent propellant. Cylinder capacity is 6 rounds, and ignition system is single action percussion that uses #10 Percussion Caps. It weighs 2.75 lbs., and is 13 inches long. Manufacturer is Pietta of Italy, and we have sold Pietta muzzleloaders for 50 years now with excellent results. Photo specimen comes to us from one of our dealer friends and trading partners in Louisiana. Its CC Italian date code is from 2008. It is in its original box with its instruction manual, safety manual, and warranty statement. This 1851 has never been sold to a consumer, much less fired or even loaded. Its only surface detractions are original to the revolver, forcing cone contact streaking on the cylinder face and front edges.
