These final M1 barrels had much better steel that lengthened the useful life of the bore. The wood bears the Arsenal P in the circle, "Proof" mark. Overall the rifle appears to have been un issued after rebuild. Serial number 1938097 that documents 1943 production. With my 80 year old eyes, I shot groups inside of 1 1/2" at 100yds.
