Description: LG1258 Here is a fully traditional J.C. Higgins model 101.1 Single Shot 16 gauge, manufactured by Savage for Sears Roebuck. This shotgun comes to us from the estate of one of our best local families here in West Tennessee, who happen to be African American. The original owner, like so many in our area, worked at the Bemis Cotton Mill and bought this inexpensive but excellent shotgun some time in the 1950s. Like so many single shots manufactured before 1969, it was never serial numbers; its letter J barrel code, however, possibly indicates it was manufactured in 1959. Type is tang breech lever single shot, with transfer bar internal safety device. Barrel is 28 inches long. From its Muzzle contour and .640 diameter, it is a full choke, 2 3/4 inch chamber. Metal finish is almost entirely brown patina, with some hints of bluing remaining on the midsection of the barrel; on the hammer and breech lever; and purplish salt bluing on the forend iron. Metal finish is even and attractive throughout, as the photos show. Bakelite composite forend is original but drawn at the edges. Buttstock is a generic period walnut custom fitted, with short fitting cracks on the left side behind the receiver, filler on the under side behind the receiver on left under side and on the right side. Right side shows a 2 inch hairline crack behind the receiver, but with no separation. Buttpad is fairly well fitted early 1960s, and the length of pull is 13 inches from the trigger face to the end of the pad. We rate this shotgun as Good, but photos ought to suffice for our shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. It is excellent mechanically; bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent. We’re offering this attractive, collectable 1950s Mill Worker’s shotgun for only $ 119.00. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> $20 flat fee lower 48 states; $60 Alaska, Hawaii or Puerto Rico, UPS Ground with full insurance coverage. Don't let your buddies use your account. Registered user must be the buyer, with his or her own money. Buying firearms and related items for other people can result in felony charges. Don't try, either, to circumvent any law; for example, a California civilian may not buy a high capacity magazine and have it shipped to his brother-in-law in Nevada. That is a felony.
GA Pay buyers are NOT charged until we confirm we have the item and are ready to ship it. The same thing is true for phone-in, fax-in, and mail-in payments. In this respect, and in several others, Guns America outshines all its competitors. This is the best firearms website there is, hands down.
