This is the 2nd SWV 45 P38 I’ve had for sale in over 20 years. Pistol: IN 98% CONDITION. A RATHER HARD TO FIND SVW 45 DUAL TONE P38. THEY ARE RARE AND SELDOM SEEN. THIS CODE WAS ONLY AROUND FOR A FEW MONTHS AND THEN THE FRENCH TOOK OVER THE FACTORY. THIS IS A GREAT EXAMPLE OF A TOUGH P38 TO FIND. MAUSER P38, SVW 45, DUAL TONE. Cal. 9mm. Mauser P38 with 4-7/8? bbl. Left slide marked “P38, SVW 45” followed by the SN. The right side of the slide is marked with the French STAR. Typical dual tone finish with blued bbl, safety, rear sight and takedown lever, the balance having been phosphated. Nicely marked “S” and “F” safety indicators. Disassembly shows all matching parts, including the locking block. Sharp edge wear, slight thinning of the right slide and fading of the phosphate on hammer. Comparable condition frontstrap and grips. Reasonably bright bore with shallow rifling and mild oxidation. Perfect manual mechanics. Magazine: Blued “WALTHER” marked mag. Another characteristic of a French pistol are the metal grips. These grips were stamped from sheet metal. The French had to find another source for grips after the plastic grips were finished and this resulted in the metal grips. Holster: No markings but in excellent condition with no dry rot rips or tears. EXCELLENT++ condition. Document: Folded but no rips or tears. Issued to a CAPT from a CAPT. Excellent++ condition. Overall a very rare P38 grouping that very very rarely comes available.
