Bid: Time Left: (Ended) Shipping: $15.00 Accepted Payment Methods: Returns: 10 Days Description: This is a Tower 1862 Enfield rifle that is an original period firearm that has been modified and had the barrel shortened and a pistol style wood grip added where the stock used to be. Barrel has the British marks and 24 in between twice. It appears to be an early mod based on the petina and aging on the moded areas. Barrel strap screw looks to be a more modern screw and the ram rod has been replaced but compliments the piece nicely. Some wear and marks to wood and metal. Plate, hammer, and charge cap chamber look good with some pitting from charge sparks over the years. Air flows freely between the cap chamber and barrel so the barrel is not clogged or jammed. Hammer spring and catch is very tight. No attempt to fire this gun was performed. Will need to be fully inspected and cleaned before even attempting to fire. I am describing this firearm as unsafe to fire in its present state. Sling swivel missing. Would make a great display and conversation piece. Barrel is 10" long. Appears to be about .58 cal.
