You are bidding on an excellent condition, early model, and rare Glock 17 Gen1 Pencil Barrel model with all the 'trimmings'! Specifics: Gen 1 Glock 17 Pencil Barrel Make: Glock AHxxx Model: 17 Caliber: 9x19 Capacity: 17 Description: This auction is for one amazing example of an original Glock model 17 Gen1 with all original and complete with matching Tupperware case and lid (called the bullet box by collectors). While a couple of models actually preceded the model 17 (the original design produced for the Austrian army was called the P80), the first model most of us associate with Glock is the model 17. The first guns imported into the US came with an AF serial number prefix. Early versions between AA and AM came with a thinner barrel in comparison to later models. In the collector circles, these are referred to as “Pencil Barrels” and have attracted quite a following. According to the Glock factory reps, there were approximately 25,000 1st generation model 17s imported to the US. Examples have been found with most serial prefixes between AA and EE however, the pencil barrel was standard up only until somewhere in the AM prefix serial bank with most of these guns staying in Europe. AA-AE guns were not imported (other than one-off secondary market importation) and Glock did not make the AI, or AJ prefixes. This leaves only five banks that were predominantly imported to the US: AF, AG (uncertain on importation status) AH, AK, AL. This one has all the black parts--please see pics for details-- two Austria over Glock pre-ban U-notch mags, a very rare and awesome condition 'weekend' adjustable sights, a rare 1986 manual (some say fewer of these were made than the 1985 manuals), a period-correct cleaning rod, and a mag loader. It has a barrel date code "BTM" indicating production in April of 1985 - which was before they were even importing to the US. Will send additional photos where requested. Please enjoy the view - we hope to send this out to fill a hole in someone's collection, or start an all-new one with this awesome early period collectible!
