The Md.48 is an improved version of the WWII German 98K Mauser. These Yugoslavian manufactured Mauser rifles were some of the best quality Mauser rifles ever produced. The M48 Mauser was used by the Yugoslavian military as well as being shipped to Cold War world hot spots around the world. This rifle has all milled parts not like the later produced Yugoslavian Md48-A Mauser that had many stamped parts. Serial numbers are stamped matching on receiver and stock. Serial numbers match each other on bolt and floor plate. Nice dark metal blue. Stock has a professional arsenal repair on the right side. A small hair line crack in the stock at the left front part of the receiver. Bore is in excellent condition: bright with good lands and no pitting. Rifle has a clear/sharp Crest of Yugoslavia stamped on the top of the receiver. This Md. 48 would be a excellent shooter or an addition to any collection. There is a very tiny import mark on the muzzle end of the barrel. Rifle was purchased by a collector in 2002 put away and never fired. Comes with original importers box numbered to rifle.
