ADAMS”. This a MASSACHUSETTS MILTIA musket circa 1825 or so. It is chambered in .70 caliber cap & ball. This is a Percussion conversion from flintlock. 41 ¼” smoothbore barrel is good with a wonderful brown patina.; Front pinched blade sight. The sidelock and hammer are nice, exhibiting the same patina as the barrel. Lock is charmingly decorated with floral and burst engravings and marked “I. ADAMS” under the pan. Hammer and trigger function as they should. All brass fittings intact except the middle right side barrel retaining pin piece. Later period ramrod intact. Full stock is very good with field wear; Small repair on muzzle side of sidelock, right side. Like many civilian arms, this musket is not fitted with sling swivels. Beautiful Sterling Silver medallion on wrist with inlaid sterling decoration; Free from monogram. A WONDERFUL PIECE!
