After WWI these rifles were put into long term military storage. Upon the out break of WWII they were taken from storage and arsenal reworked. Then the rifles were put into US military service. This rifle was manufactured October 1918. Barrel is dated August 1918 R stamped and has the flaming bomb proof. Receiver has the flaming bomb proof as well. Bore is bright with sharp lands and no pitting. Rifle retained most of its Remington parts during the arsenal rework. The bolt has some Eddystone parts. Stock and hand guards appear to be walnut with no cracks. Stock is a arsenal rework replacement. Rear sights are the standard peep sights with a ladder peep sight going out to 1,600 yards. No import mark. This rifle is coming from an estate. It would make a excellent collectible or a shooter. Md 1917's in this condition with excellent bright bores are getting difficult to find.
