The item that you are considering is my prized rifle. This is a professionally built M40A3 with a Schmidt and Bender USMC M8541 marked scope. It is also marked Premier Reticle on the side. From what I understand ten M8541 scopes were accidentally released by Premier (but sold legally). They were able to get four back and have offered to purchase this one back as well. Of the six left, one is mine as shown for sale here, one is owned by a fellow Marine Sniper friend of mine and one was accidentally destroyed (fire or some disaster) which leaves three somewhere out there. Therefore this is a rare scope. NO, I will not sell the scope seperately. The rifle has a Mcmillan A4 stock with adjustable cheek piece, recoil pad spacer system, a wider/deeper fore end, and a built-in hand stop for the non-firing hand under the buttstock. This rifle has a benchrest trued Remington 700 action and a Schneider 25" stainless steel barrel chambered with PTG match reamers with chambering, threading, and action fitting tolerances held to .0001" runout from centerline of bore axis and Marine Sniper taper with counterbore crown. It has a Tubb heavy recoil lug and the receiver is clip slotted and modified to USMC spec with the flat bridge. It has a McMillan fiberglass Tactical A-4 stock in Olive Drab. The action is pillar bedded with devcon with a sealed finish on the underbed interior areas. The barrel is free floating except for 1.5" forward of the recoil lug. The scope base is a USMC type tall extended Mil Spec 1913 Picatinney rail mount with underside lugs fitted to the clip slotted receiver. The rings are Badger M40A3 34mm and feature a Badger SIMRAD cap. The all steel floor plate and trigger guard is D.D. Ross. It also features heavy gauge 1 3/4" flush swivel set with six flush cups mounted securely into the stock. The rifle is finished in a black matte moly-teflon which provides protection from weather and handling. The receiver is marked U.S. above the serial number and the barrel is marked 7.62 NATO on the barrel. The bolt is marked with the last four digits of the serial number. This comes with a Harris 6-9 inch swivel benchrest bipod and a Pelican 1750 hardcase in desert tan. Also, included is an ARD anti-reflection device (almost impossible to obtain) for the Schmidt and Bender scope as well as the instructions for the scope. The barrel is threaded to the standard 5/8x24 for a suppressor or muzzle break. In the photos it shows a Gemtech HVT attached. The Gemtech HVT is NOT included in the auction. The treads are protected by a muzzle protector that was made out of the same piece of stainless steel as the barrel. If you have any questions then please feel free to contact me. I also have many more pictures of this rifle and can email them if needed.
