Manufacture name and location on top of 6" blued(key-shaped)barrel w/ fixed front sight soldered in. Left side of barrel : H&R "Sportsman", right side of barrel: .22 Long Rifle CTG. Safety rimmed 9 shot cylinder w/shell ejector, has "patent applied for" on outer cylinder. (from my research around 1750 ever made w/o patent #) Same research suggests that by s/n 18xx the patent # was applied and switched to a adjustable front sight (variation 2 of 8 known for this model) and that was on April 18th 1933. Adjustable rear sight (for windage only) Single piece checkered walnut grip (1 of 12 different grips styles ever offered but it's a more common one). From what I've found the only sure way to tell its a 1932 manufactured gun vs. 1933 is by the serial #, the lower the # the better chance it is a 32 vs 33. I can without a doubt say this really is a 1932 manufactured gun. Production started in Oct 1932 with serial number 01(101) so to have a 32 is very rare. Impossible to determine how many were produced in 32 but research suggests that only 1750ish were produced between Oct. 1932 - April 18th 1933, so its somewhat safe to say that less than half that number were produced in 32. There were roughly 897xx sportsman double action's made from 32-39. There are some condition issues with this revolver so please read CAREFULLY and CLOSELY look at the photos. I'm no gunsmith but I would say the bluing is still 60%-70% mostly due to holster wear and use over 80 + years, some small area's of surface rust. Some very small pitting on cylinder above the "patent applied for". Small chip on walnut grip (where grip mattes up with frame)and appears that the front sight was broke and repaired. Rifling on barrel looks to be in excellent shape(hard to take good photo)and a small indentation (shown in pics) also hard to see in the photo due to my camera but the #'s on the ejector DO match the #'s on the cylinder, I assure you it is a 6 not an 8 like it looks. I purchased the gun in this condition. All I did was oil it up and clean the barrel so I could fire it. I did not intend to buy a gun this old, I purchased it under the impression that is was from the late 70's early 80's. I was looking for a back up brush handgun when I purchased this one off an old farmer. I had put 27 rounds down the pipe (shot and ejected all 9 rounds) before I realized what I really had. I am not a collector of vintage guns, more into ones from the late 70's to early 90's, ones that I can feel good about shooting daily if needed. So my mistake could be YOUR gain. Also due to the design it can be shot by a right or left handed person you just simply either squeeze the trigger or cock the hammer back and let her rip, no safety and can be broke open on the left or right side. Asking $700 but I have some room to negotiate, am willing to do a partial trade + cash towards the gun as listed below in the "trade" section.
