Ruger set out to make a bolt action rifle with all the features that are important for accuracy and usability and still keep the cost affordable...and the result was the American series. With features like a free-float barrel and the Power Bedding integral bedding block system, there is no need to sacrafice accuracy to achieve affordability. The Ruger Marksman Adjustable Trigger (TM) is crisp and user-adjustable between 3- and 5-pounds. The ergonomic, lightweight black composite stock is designed for quick, easy handling and includes features like installed swivel studs, forend contouring with grip serrations. But even more exciting than that is the modular stock system. Every Ruger American Rimfire comes with two interchangeable stock modules that provide comb height options for scope or iron sight use. The standard models come with the long length of pull modules ad the compact models come with the short length of pull modules. All for modules are interchangeable, so you can purchase different modules and have a rifle that is perfect for parents and for the youngster just learning to shoot! The tang safety is easy to actuate and visible from the shooting position. The rifles chambered in .22 LR feature the BX-1 10-round rotary magazine which fits flush with the stock and offers the smooth feed that has become the hallmark of Ruger rotary magazines. They will also accept the BX-25 and BX-25x2 magazines for increased capacity. Rifles chambered in .17 HMR and .22 WMR use the detachable, flush mounted JMX-1 9-round rotary magazine The rifle also includes Williams (TM) Fire Sight front sight and a 10/22 style adjustable "V" slot folding leaf rear sight. This rifle is chambered in the affordable, readily available .17 HMR. The satin blued, hammer-forged alloy steel barrel is 18 inches and threaded in 1/2x28 pattern with included thread protector. Just add a suppressor and you have a perfect squirrel hunting rifle! Rifling is 1:9 right hand twist. This is the compact model and the length of pull is 12.5 inches. You may purchase the "standard" modules to lengthen the stock. Both the compact and standard modules are pictured, but only the compact modules come with the rifle. The picture is for comparison purposes only. The rifle weighs just 5.38 pounds. The receiver is drilled and tapped for a Weaver (R) #12 scope base (not included) and is machined to accept 3/8" rimfire scope bases. You must be at least 18 years old to purchase this rifle.
