Anybody who has watched the vintage gun market knows Ansley H. Fox's 16ga. Sterlingworth value has been discovered, all being built on the diminutive 20ga. frame, and consistently the best handling, lightest weight American 16ga. double gun available at any price. When you think of the high value placed on a Parker 16 "O" frame (or 20ga. frame) double gun because of the light weight and balance, the Fox 16 is a bargain! The prices have gone up significantly on Fox guns, with really nice 16ga. guns being bought up and put away for personal use. This fine little Philly Fox, sn363551 built in 1928, is a very fine gun that has been well cared for, with 98% strong factory blue, excellent bores, unaltered 28" #3 weight barrels choked M/F, perfect screws, and a nicely restored factory original set of wood. The barrels are tight on the hinge pin and breech face like a new gun, with the lever way right of center. This is a VFI CERTIFIED GUN, which means our gunsmiths stripped the action to its smallest parts, cleaned them in the Ultrasonic cleaner, inspected each part for integrity, properly lubricated and reassembled the action, making it good for the next generation of use. VFI CERTIFIED GUNS carry a 90 day shooting warranty. I can safely say that not one of the other Sterlingworth 16's for sale today have been disassembled and properly inspected, cleaned, and lubricated for decades. This is a $200 service that is part of the value in a VFI gun. What a great gun for upland birds or sporting clays, with a LOP of 14 1/4" to the factory buttplate and gorgeous condition.
