Description:
Springfield Armory M1 Garand, .30-.06, serial number 1368-xxx. Receiver dates to Dec 1942 – March 1943. Barrel is also SA, marked 1-43. No import marks. Most marked components are Springfield. Parts are listed below and shown in the photos.
The gun has been disassembled, cleaned, lubricated, and test fired. It shoots great, cycling through a full 8 round clip and ejecting the clip at the end.
Part Details:
-Receiver: marked “D 28291 17” on leg, with various other markings. Excellent condition, absolutely no pitting. Has what appears to be the original parkerized finish that shows some wear.
-Barrel: marked ”2 S-A-1-43” in op rod slot, with various other markings. Top of barrel (not normally visible) is marked “D35448-16-R-107B” with various other markings. Has the same parkerized finish as the receiver. Four groove rifling, bore is a little frosty but not dark, crown good. ME: 3, TE: 4 1/2
-Op rod: Winchester, marked “D35382-WRA”. Had some surface pitting before the present parkerized finish was applied but is in good working condition.
-Op rod catch: late SA type, unmarked, parkerized
-Bullet guide: stamped, late SA type with notch, unmarked, parkerized
-Follower: SA type, marked “12”, parkerized
-Follower arm: late type, no bevel, hammer forge mark “2S98”, parkerized
-Follower rod: long fork, riveted, unmarked, parkerized
-Clip release: round front type, unmarked, parkerized
-Bolt: Springfield, marked “6528287-SA A15””, with hole in underside, parkerized
-Firing pin: half round, no chrome tip, unmarked
-Elevation knob: postwar, parkerized. Manufacturer marking is not clear, could be IHC or NHC.
-Windage knob: postwar, marked “DRC”, parkerized
-Rear sight base: unmarked, parkerized
-Rear sight cover: SA type, parkerized, unmarked
-Rear sight aperture: unmarked, parkerized, double track
-Trigger housing: Springfield, marked “D28290-16-SA”, small pad, cloverleaf hole, parkerized, no pitting, excellent condition other than worn finish
-Trigger guard: SA milled type, unmarked, parkerized
-Trigger: no extra hole, parkerized
-Hammer: Winchester, marked “C46008-1 W.R.A.”, parkerized
-Hammer spring housing: parkerized
-Hammer spring plunger: WWII Springfield type with wings, parkerized
-Safety: Springfield, round top with hole, marked “SA 11”, parkerized
-Gas cylinder: wide sight platform, flat on top of rear ring, unmarked. Very good working condition, finish is worn
-Front sight: 0.59 wide, unmarked.
-Gas cylinder lock: beveled front WWII type. Finish is worn.
-Gas cylinder lock screw: postwar cross slot, grenade launcher valve type, marked “P”. Finish is worn.
-Stock: Appears to be GI walnut, no cracks, about average dings and gouges with a little wood gone at toe. Marked “P” inside pistol grip.
-Handguards: unmarked, walnut, rear guard has slide clearance cut. Both guards have some dings and gouges. Front guard has a small crack, where the end fits inside the lower band.
-Buttplate: shows some wear, appears the same age as the stock.
Canvas sling and two clips (no ammo) are included.
