Login Contact Seller Description: This is a very rare Smith and Wesson Model #1, First Issue .22 cal. RF revolver. Serial # 7530 which makes it a Type 6. The serial number falls between 5,844 and 11,046 which indicated according to S and W records to have been manufactured between June 1859 and May 1860. It has a 7 shot non-fluted cylinder, and an octagon barrel length of 3' 3/16" inches. Rosewood grips, the butt is square. Brass frame with silver plating. The barrel and frame are blued. Cylinder actuates well and lines up. Nice and tight. The Smith and Wesson No. 1, First Issue was the first metallic cartridge firearm. It might very well be considered the centerpiece of any Smith and Wesson collection. It also has great Civil War appeal. This is a tip up revolver in which the barrel pivots upwards, hinged to the forward end of the top strap. It's distinguished as a No. 1, First Issue by the rounded contours of the sides of the frame and the circular side plate. I'm going to go low here because I don't fancy myself an expert on judging the remaining silver condition.... You can judge for yourself by the pics and enlarging......My best evaluation is that there is 50-60 % silver left on the right side. There's about 25 -30% silver left on the left. Maybe 50-55% on the back strap, and nearly none ahead of the trigger. Logical perhaps because of normal wear. This is a wonderful specimen and could highlight very well a Smith and Wesson collection as well as compliment a Civil War collection. I encourage your 3-day inspection period and want you to know that I am not happy unless you are. The price includes shipping and handling within the lower 48.
