Springfield M1 Garand National Match (NM) Navy Trophy Rifle 7.62X51 (.308) *RARE!!!* (m14, m1a, carbine, 1903, Remington, Winchester, H&R, US, .30 cal) Guns > Rifles > Springfield Armory Rifles > M1 Garand
Description: Price just slashed 20%!!! Extremely rare and awarded in 1960 to a Navy Competition Shooter by SECNAV for his 2nd Place finish in the USN Pacific Fleet Championship in San Diego, CA. This rifle was custom-built by the Navy's top armorer in the late 1950's using only the best available National Match parts, including a rare 7.62mmx51mm (.308) barrel, not a sleeved .30-06 barrel like some other re-barreled .308 Garands. This Garand is made to compete at 1000 yards at the National Matches at Camp Perry, but is unfired and in New condition. The gorgeous stock was also glass-bedded for ultimate accuracy. The walnut furniture is in amazing shape and there is not a bit of rust anywhere on the barrel or receiver. Bore is bright and shiny, with deep rifling. Rear sight is the rare 1/2 MOA NM/2A; .062" tapered NM front sight. Includes the original leather sling. This rifle was acquired as part of an estate sale and according to the widow of the military hero who one it, the rifle was rarely taken out of the safe since it was won 57 years ago and he never shot a round thru it. I had my gunsmith thoroughly inspect and test fire it to ensure proper and safe function, and it performed flawlessly, as it should. He also stated that with all the research he's done and after talking to numerous individuals at the CMP and NRA, in addition to other experts on these rare Garands, very few of these exist in civilian hands (around 100-125) and not a single Navy NM Trophy Rifle has EVER come up for sale on Gunsamerica or Gunbroker since they first started out in the late 1990s! This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to own a piece of history! This will only continue to go up in value over time and will make an excellent investment. I also have numerous patches and medals won by the former owner available as well.
