Description: This listing is for the exact shotgun in the photos. We recognized and liked what we called the Pointer Pup back in the 1960s, what few there were, and here is one. Manufacturer was Yamamoto Firearms of Kochi, Japan, from 1963 until 1972. Exclusive US Importer was Sloans of CT during that period. This shotgun and its milling equipment reappeared in 1975 at the B.C. Miroku Company of Nankoku, Japan, 7 miles away, as the named model Auto Five Light Twelve. This shotgun, then, is the direct ancestor to the Miroku made Auto Five Light Twelves manufactured from 1975 until 1998 when production ceased. We estimate it was manufactured in the late 1960s. This shotgun served for pest control purposes on a Kubbutz, a farm, in the Land of Israel. Construction is entirely steel, with the exception of the brass part of the friction ring and the alloy trigger group housing. Stock and forend are American Walnut with polymer butt plate. Chambering is 12 gauge, not designed for steel shot or slugs, 2 3/4 inch shells only. Type is Browning design recoil operated repeating shotgun. Some, perhaps all, parts will NOT interchange with an Auto Five Browning. Barrel is 30 inches with .679 tapered choke muzzle diameter. Sight system is 12 post, .300 wide serrated top Ventilated Rib that sits .235 above the barrel at midsection. Front Sight is threaded stainless bead, and rear is serrated receiver top groove. Magazine tube is steel, holds 4 rounds of 2 3/4 inch 12 gauge shells, so 4 + 1 fully loaded capacity. Return spring mates with the main brass friction ring, with a small steel friction ring against it for shooting high powered shells, or position the small beveled ring against the receiver for light loads. Forend detent may or may not engage the magazine cap. Trigger is .200 steel smooth faced, pulls at 4 1/2 pounds vicinity with minimal felt creep and overtravel. Safety is right side behind the trigger, right hand shooter only. The Auto Five was never a southpaw friendly shotgun. Forend is cut checkered walnut, buttstock has checkered lateral panels, 14 inch length of pull with standard 1 1/2 by 2 1/2 drop, and with a 1 inch right hand cast. Finish is polished surface blued steel, black anodized trigger guard, and white steel bolt, carrier, and trigger. Note that the rib has a section missing, and cracks in the rib at the post other on two other rib post positions. Surface detractions are moderate to extensive, principally contact wear to the receiver, scouring to the walnut, finish freckling and moderate wear elsewhere. We rate this Pointer as only Fair, perhaps Good, 65 percent vicinity by our estimate, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Bore, chamber, springs and mechanism are all bright, clean, and strong. We estimate this Auto Pointer was fired fewer than 1500 rounds during its farming days. Replacement pricing on a Miroku Auto Five Browning will run into the 4 figure ranges. We're offering the Yamamoto Auto Pointer in the photos, however, for only $ 239.00. 2% off if payment is with USPS Money Order & Not Credit Card. Any ammunition or personnel showing in our photos are not included. Production dates and serialization are not established, so no C&R until that happens, or until 2024.
