Here is Hogue's contribution to the ergonomics of the classic medium frame Smith & Wesson Revolvers, and S&W only recently recognized the contribution by changing from the functional but very ugly Michaels grips to the much more attractive and better handling Hogues. The square butt K and L frames, of course, were discontinued in the mid 1990s, but one reason we keep these fine grips is that we are occasionally lucky enough to get some Department trade ins that need their grips replaced, and these fill the bill very well for shooters of a wide range of hand sizes. Hogue rubber Monogrips, the factory points out, are molded from a durable synthetic rubber that is not spongy or tacky, but gives that soft recoil-absorbing feel, without affecting accuracy. Photos show sets of Hogues that were in service with the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections on that distinguished Departments’ Model 64 Revolvers. Surface detractions are minimal to moderate, as the photos show. We rate them as Very Good, close to Excellent, but photos ought to suffice for our shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves.
