They were made by several makers from approx.1958 through 1992. The Schrade Walden brand can be verified as Viet Nam era since the company stopped making them in 1972. The blade is automatic. The opening spring is strong and opens in the blade up and sideways configuration. The lock mechanism works as it should, open and closed The curved blade was for cutting shroud lines of a parachute. The bail has been removed. It was fairly common for owners to remove them because they interfered with opening the blade. The handle is in good condition. The blade has normal sharpening scratches and use scuffs, but is not bent or broken. This is a fine example of a rare and hard to get 'Nam collector's item.
