Redfield 4x LPWF 4 Plex ca 1981 Weaver Rings Low Profile Widefield XM0424 Rifle Scope Fixed Power US Made Non-Guns > Scopes/Mounts/Rings & Optics > Rifle Scopes > Fixed Focal Length
Description: From its home atop a 1980 production Savage 99 Lever Action .308, and from the collection of our favorite Kansas Lawman, comes this very nice Redfield 4 power Low Profile Widefield rifle scope. It appears that the Savage is the only home for this scope, so we estimate it was manufactured in 1981 or 1982. This scope is not serially numbered. Manufacturer, of course, is the long defunct Redfield Optical Company of Denver. Construction is lightweight alloy with gloss black anodized finish, one piece tube with 1 inch diameter; overall length 11 3/4 inches; 4 Plex Crosshair configured like the old Weaver Dual X, or current production Leupold Duplex; weight without rings 12.4 ounces; field of view 36 feet at 100 yards; objective lens 30 mm wide by 22 mm high; 3 inch eye relief, and we get a good view through it at 4 1/4 inches. Rings included are period correct and original steel top two screw Weaver US Made like the scope. Note that we have loosened, but not removed, the scope rings to show the minimal amount of ring marking on the tube. The old two screws like these are a pain to remount anyway. Ring height is low, and that was the great thing about the LPWF series, line of sight was closer to bullet path making for better elevation accuracy. Surface detractions to this scope are minimal, faint ring marking as we have noted, one contact scoured place on the rear edge of the objective lens’s bell, and faint amounts of edge whitening. We rate this scope as Excellent Condition, 90 percent or better by our estimate. Photos, at any rate, ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. It is certainly excellent mechanically. The windange and elevation adjustments are friction type, they do not click, and they have 1/4 inch hash marks. These work perfectly. This scope is good and clear, and coatings show no abrasions on eyepiece or objective lenses. It is collectable, because of Redfield’s sad demise in the 1990s, and because it is period correct for any rifle or shotgun manufactured from the late 1960s until the early 1990s. Most of all, it is eminently serviceable, and one of the best US Made Scopes ever. We’re offering it for only $ 179.00.
