Here is Legacy Sports's tribute to the military shotguns of World War II. This is LSI's Escort BWW2 variant. Manufacturer is Hatsan Arms of Istanbul Turkey. Importer and warrantor is LSI of Reno, NV. Type is Italian design slide or pump action shotgun. Its lines are more akin to the Savage 77 that saw service in Vietnam than any other military shotgun. Construction is steel barrel, bolt, magazine assembly, trigger, hammer, carrier, and internal parts assembled into an alloy receiver, with polymer trigger housing assembly, and injection molded polymer buttstock and forend. Barrel is 18 inch standard smooth chrome lined bore, with 12 gauge, 2 3/4 inch and 3 inch chambering. Muzzle is fixed choke, .729 Cylinder bore. Sights are welded ramp steel front that supports an Ithaca Ray-Bar type red fiber optic front; with serrated receiver top rear sighting area that also accepts 5/8 dovetailed rear rings. Magazine is 14 1/4 inch length, holds 5 rounds of 2 3/4 inch or 4 rounds of 3 inch 12 gauge shells. Trigger is .262 military style checkered serrations. Photo specimen pulled at 5 1/2 pounds with moderate felt creep. Weight empty is 6 pounds 3 ounces, centered an inch behind the breech face. Overall length is 38 3/4 inches. Length of pull is a very adult 14 5/8 inches. Foreng is semi beavertail with corn cob type serrations; buttstock has lateral checkering panels inlaid on its wrist area. Stock drop is 1 1/2 by 2 1/4 inches, with barely any right hand cast. Finish is OD Green Barrel and receiver, brushed surface blued magazine assembly, matte blue bolt, trigger, and carrier, and black trigger housing. Stock and forend are wood grained synthetic. Each Escort WW2 comes in its factory box with protective papers, chamber protector, instruction manual, stock shims, and importer five year warranty card. It will Not accept a Masen heat shield; lug centers 13 1/4 inches forward of the receiver. Replacement pricing on an original military Savage 77E will approach four figures.
