No. 1 Mark III Enfield in decent condition chambered in 303 British Guns > Rifles > Enfield Rifle
Description: I have up for sale a British Enfield No1 Mk III chambered in 303 British. this rifle's stock is tightly wrapped with copper wire and soldiered. It is wrapped in 3 places along the stock. It's wrapped in front of the receiver. it is wrapped and soldered really well. I can not see a way of taking it apart but to cut the copper wire wrapping so I can not inspect the gun thoroughly. this is in over all good condition. it is complete as far as I know. now my observations and the marks I can find on the rifle. first off is the right side of the receiver behind the bolt handle is labeled NO. 1 MK III 303 U.K., on the bridge of the receiver it is marked with the importer's initials and address.. the bolt head is stamped with two squares and tails.. not sure what that is supposed to be. . right side of the ring is stamped with the serial number. the bottom of the sight is stamped with the serial number of the rifle. the base of the sight is stamped with large "E". the left side of the ring is stamped with; a crown, GRI and what looks to be two flags. the right side of the receiver between the buttstock and the wood that covers the receiver it is stamped with a Crown, GRI, 1950, and at the bottom No. 1 Mk 3. the bottom of the magazine is stamped with a different gun's serial number. the magazine follower is stamped with an "F" and "49" . thew bolt head is also stamped with "TD", "22", and "C".Everything else is obscured by the application of black paint to the metal parts. the stock on the left side of the butt is painted with "24" not sure if that is significant but I am only recording what I see. as for dings and scrapes and such: right side of the buttstock is a few scrapes, the wood that covers the receiver has several small dents all over it. all of the wood has small dents in them. there is a 1/4" bolt through the stock just in back of the copper wire wrapping in back of rear sight. the butt plate is brass.

NOW for the extraordinary news, I thought I had cleaned the bore with a good scrubbing with Hoppe's #9.. well Hoppe's did not touch whatever was obscuring the bore. I thought the barrel was ruined.. I just gave it another scrubbing with something that cut what ever it was in the barrel making it look eaten out (shot out). this bore is PRISTINE! sharp!, BRIGHT!, Not a speck of wear on the whole bore. this gun's barrel is in better condition than it's brother that went out of here. This is worth every cent of the $600.00 I want for it. I am not sure if I can get a good pic of the bore.. however I will do my best to get a clear pic of the bore. I will get pics of it soon and will post one of them here for you to see. e-mail me for more pics or questions.
