Here is the current production, semi automatic descendant of the 1927A1 Thompson Machine Gun, the TM1C with lighter weight and fewer frills. Manufacturer is Auto Ordnance Corp., of Kingston, NY. Warrantor is Kahr Arms service department in Worcester, MA. Type is closed bolt semi automatic carbine. Construction is milled steel barrel, bolt, trigger, magazine, magazine release and internal parts built into a lighter weight alloy receiver. Chambering is .45 ACP caliber, and the factory recommends factory loaded, mil-spec brass case 230 grain FMC ammunition only. Barrel is 16 1/2 inch, six groove right hand 1:16 rifling, with collar type blade front sight assembly. Outside diameter tapers from .650 behind the collar area to .750 at the forend front, then continues to 1.06 at the barrel receiver junction. Sight system is blade front with fixed, wing protected blue steel aperture or peep rear mounted on top of the receiver. Rear blade has an upper notch for longer range shooting. Receiver is two piece alloy with semi gloss finish. Note that the operating handle and ejection port are on the right side. Safety is left side two position 180 degree lever. Trigger is .400 smooth steel face, and the photo specimen pulled at 13 pounds vicinity with moderate felt creep and overtravel. Magazine release is original half moon type, and factory issue 30 shot stick type magazine is included. Receiver will NOT accept a factory or military issue drum magazine. Forend is conventional square walnut, with lateral grooves and permanent sling swivel. Buttstock is matching plain oil finish, with permanent steel swivel and black polymer buttplate. Distance from the trigger face to the end of the buttstock is 17 inches; buttstock drop is 5 inches at the heel, with a 1 inch right hand cant. Weight empty is 8 pounds 7 ounces, with center of gravity at the trigger. Each TM1C comes in its factory Thompson / Chicago Typewriter foam lined plastic case with owner’s manual, Massachusetts AG warning card, factory registration card, parts sheet, and Kahr Arms tommygunstore booklet.
