Remington UMC Model 51 Circa 1923-1925 Guns > Pistols > Remington Pistols - Modern > R51
Description: Remington UMC (Union Metalic Cartridge) Company 32 cal. Serial # PA 65158. Gun was designed by John Pederson at Remington. He was a rival designer to John Browning in the early 1900's. There were 65,000 made between 1918 and 1927. This gun was made between 1923-1925. There were 50,000 plus made in .380 caliber and 10,000 made in 32 caliber making this 32 caliber more collectible being a 32 cal. The gun has the Remington trade mark engraved on the right side of the frame and an anchor proof mark on the right side of the trigger guard. The gun has 95%-98% of the bluing remaining. The grip plates are perfect with no cracks or chips. There is some glare on the pistol in the pictures from the flash making the bluing look worn, but it is just glare, as the bluing is pristine. The gun has no rust or pitting anywhere including internal parts. The lands and grooves look new on this pistol. There are 3 safety's on the pistol. There is the usual manual safety, a magazine safety that prevents firing when the magazine is removed, and a grip safety. General George S.Patton was given one of these pistols and carried it in his wasteband or in a pocket holster in his rear pocket in addition to his Colt 45 pistols. He referred to it as his insurance. He had new grips made with 3 ivory stars and later 4 stars when he was promoted. This gun will make an excellent addition to anyone's collection. They are very rare in this condition.
