The listing is for 1 (one) SLIGHTLY USED (!!!) Custom AF-1 'Strike One' Pistol; Made in Italy by by "Arsenal Firearms".
The item was purchased brand-spanking-new, fired 500 (five hundred) rounds through, as required by the manufacturer to break it in, and then shipped to RAIN6.com for sight and trigger upgrades. Then, it was shipped to ROBAR for NP3+ coating. Upon return, it was test-fired to the extent of 200 (two) hundred rounds.
Modifications:
1. The rear sight part of the rear locking plate was removed completely, a dove-tail-shaped cut was milled on the slide, and a brand-spanking rear night sight piece (with Tritium capsules) by LPA was installed in the dove-tail-shaped cut above;
2. The factory front sight piece was replaced with a Tritium night sight manufactured by Trijicon;
3. The factory trigger mechanism was replaced with a pricey competition trigger kit;
4. The 4+ magazine extension by "Taran Tactical" was professionally engraved to my requirements (See pictures above);
5. The NP3+ logo and the ROBAR logo were engraved on the top of the slide and all the metal parts were coated with NP3+, which does NOT require lubricating an is practically impervious to any corrosion.
What is included:
1. Two (2) original + 2 (two) additional 17-round magazines "manufactured for "Arsenal Firearms" by "MecGar" (for a total of 4 (four) magazines, all NP3+-coated; 1 (one) slightly used and 3 (three) brand-spanking new);
2. One (1) brand-spanking-new Ambidextrous Magazine Release Button;
3. One (1) slightly used Strike One DPM Guide and Spring System;
4. One (1) slightly used 4-Round "Taran Tactical" Base Pad (NP3+-coated);
5. Assorted paperwork.
Why did I include the Strike One DPM Guide and Spring System? Well, you have to keep in mind that this particular model was designed for the Russian military and law enforcement that use SUPER-HOT ammo, way hotter than our "white Winchester", which is why, when fired with UNDERPOWERED AMMO, like Federal and Remington, it tends to develop FTE and FTF (Failure to Eject and Failure to Feed). This spring system comes with 3 (three) various springs. You would have to try them with different kinds of ammo and select combinations that would allow the unit to function properly.
The 4-Round "Taran Tactical" Base Pad... Unfortunately, at RAIN6, they ran out of black base pads, so they grabbed a bronze-coated one and re-finished it for me. On top of the factory coat. Thus, they covered the manufacturer's logo and other factory markings thereon. Therefore, I had it engraved, as shown on the pictures above, and coated with NP3+. It is now one of a kind.
Unfortunately, a couple of years ago, "ROBAR" went out of business, but "Coating Technologies, LLC" that owns these coating technologies has already found a new partner that would do gunsmithing. The name of the new partner is"Wright Armory, LLC".
NP3+®
NP3+® is a surface treatment for steel and metal alloys that combines sub-micron particles of PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene), otherwise known as Teflon, with electroless nickel.
NP3+® has all of the advantages of the the original NP3 listed above as well as almost 6x the Corrosion Resistance of the Standard NP3 coating.
NP3+ has a micro hardness of 48-51 Rockwell as plated (nickel matrix).
NP3+ has a coefficient of friction as low as .07-.1 according to test standards LFW-1 and ASTM D-2714
NP3+ has PTFE also known as Teflon® co-deposited in the nickel matrix. As wear occurs new PTFE particles are exposed and the self lubricating properties continue.
NP3+ is easy to clean for the same reason that a pan with Teflon® is easy to clean. Teflon® is non-stick and easy to wipe down, therefore carbon does not adhere to the surface.
