From its exclusive owner comes this attractive, accurate specimen of the earlier Savage 110 Rifles. These rifles earned our respect three decades ago, and we probably sold this one new. Manufacturer and warrantor is Savage Arms of Westfield, MA. Construction is blued steel barrel, receiver, swivel studs, entire bolt assembly with white body, internal parts, and trigger; with polymer trigger guard and magazine shell carrier. Stock is one piece gloss finish cut checkered American hardwood. Barrel is forged steel 22 inch 1:10 Six groove right hand twist, .550 outside diameter at the muzzle, and .710 at the forend. Barrel is secured with Savage’s distinctive spacing collar that gives this rifle its superb accuracy. Chambering is .270 Winchester caliber, and the internal magazine holds 4 cartridges, 4+1 fully loaded capacity. Its .250 smooth faced trigger is on its original factory setting of 5 pounds, with minimal felt creep. These early 110s have triggers that are gunsmith adjustable only. Safety is tang type, and requires moving to fire position in order for the bolt to operate. Receiver has the correct and original Weaver type scope bases that will accept any Weaver or Picatinny style rings or mounts. Weight empty is 7 pounds 6 ounces with center of gravity 1 inch back of the breech face. Length of pull is 13 1/4 inches from the trigger face to the end of the 1/2 inch factory recoil pad. Overall length is 42 3/4 inches. Surface detractions on this rifle are moderate, edge whitening on the muzzle, occasional finish freckling on the barrel and receiver, and moderate scouring and light weathering on its stock. We rate it as Very Good, 80 percent vicinity, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright and clean. From our knowledge of this rifle’s owner, we estimate it has been fired fewer than 200 times. Replacement pricing on any 110 or 111 series Savage is $500 or more in our area.
