This gun was shipped to Simmons Hardware Company, St. Louis, Missouri, with 49 other guns on June 20, 1883. At some point (evidenced by the ampersand on the exterior trigger guard and "251" assembly numbers on the insides of the trigger guard and back straps), it was returned to the Colt factory for work. Though I am calling the engraving non-factory, it is of fine quality, and similar style to Helfricht and Glahn, who were factory engravers in the 1920's and '30's, so we can't prove if the factory did it. The ivory grips also appear to be factory. It is mechanically fine with proper clicks and timing. This is an ANTIQUE, so no FFL is required. Factory letter included. The Colt is accompanied by a period, Chicago made, double Mexican loop, carved leather holster in extremely good condition.
