This is Savage’s Model 11 Hog Hunter Bolt Action Rifle chambered in .338 Winchester Magnum caliber. Manufacturer and warrantor is Savage Arms of Westfield, MA, and so marked. Type is bolt action high powered magnum rifle. Construction is entirely steel metal; with the only polymer being the trigger guard, the stock itself and the cartridge follower. Barrel is 20 inch medium tapered, .796 osd behind the thread collar, moving to .893 at the forend tip. Muzzle has 1/4 x 28 threads with protective cap; and the barrel is free floating. Rifling is 1:10 six groove right hand, with Savage’s distinctive factory set collar system. Sight system is removable screw on Williams serrated base front with brass tipped steel .625 insert; and matching two piece black blade, windage and elevation adjustable rear. Receiver is 4 position drilled for Weaver # 51 size bases. A whole host of steel bases and rails are available throughout the country for this Short Action Savage, 4 5/8 inches across. Bolt is conventional black matte, with oversize 1 inch diameter handle and a 60 degree bolt throw. Safety is wide concave serrated inside the bolt channel, and engages and releases silently. Magazine is ADL type internal box, capacity 3 rounds of .338 Winchester caliber ammunition. Stock is Monte Carlo type graphite based, with checkered forend and pistol grip laterals, and QD type and rear swivel stud. Length of pull is 13 5/8 inches to the end of the 7/8 inch solid recoil pad. Trigger is .344 accu trigger, photo specimen pulled at 3 1/8 pounds with negligible felt creep and overtravel. Weight empty no scope is 8 pounds 7 ounces, centered at the barrel collar. Finish is matte blue steel, with OD Green stock finish. Overall length is 40 1/2 inches. Each rifle comes in its factory box with protective papers, chamber protector, trigger adjustment tool, factory stickers, hang tags, instruction manual, cable lock, ear plugs, safety manual, and NRA enrollment card.
