Description:
Quality Hardware and Machine Co. M1 carbine .30 cal, serial number 6310-xxx, no import marks. This carbine is in good used working condition. Metal parts have a nice dark parkerized finish with little wear, only noticeable where the bolt rides in the receiver grooves.
The stock and handguard are dark walnut with good appearance, with the exception of normal dings and some white paint on the right side (see note below).
Bore looks great, we have test fired the carbine and it is a good shooter. A video of our test firing is available on our YouTube account, FernwoodArmoryTV.
The carbine has been disassembled, examined, cleaned and lubricated.
Parts are not all matching, but are detailed here:
-Receiver: Sept 43-May 44. Spring tube type. Excellent condition, absolutely no pitting
-Barrel: Inland 2-44. Bore is bright, no pitting. ME: less than 3
-Front sight: type 2, unmarked
-Rear sight: Adjustable, type 2 milled, stamped “JAO 7160060”, Inland
-Bolt: flat, parkerized, stamped “W”, Winchester
-Firing pin: stamped “W”, Winchester
-Extractor: late type flat lip, stamped W. I., Wadsworth Watch Case Co. for Inland
-Barrel band: Type C, stamped “SA”, Springfield Armory
-Trigger housing: stamped “.U.”, Underwood type B fabricated, also ordnance bomb stamp on trigger guard.
-Safety: Type B plain unmarked
-Operating slide: type B six o’clock, stamped “PI”, Inland
-Hammer: type C straight blued, stamped “I.”, can’t identify, might be partially stamped “HI”
-Trigger: stamped “RI”, Reflector Hardware Co. for Inland
-Sear: type A, stamped “RI” , Reece Button Hole Machine Co. for Inland
-Magazine catch: type C, “M” marked push tab, stamped on front lug “E.I.”, Eaton Pond Co. for Inland
-Stock: Walnut, low wood, stamped “IO” in sling well, Inland. Inland crossed cannons stamp on right side. Also serif P inside pistol grip, and RA-P (Raritan Arsenal) on bottom of pistol grip. Stock is in good condition but not great appearance. No cracks, some dents and scratches. There were apparently some numbers on the right side done in white paint. Someone has tried to remove these but the paint is down in the grain. The stock could probably be improved by stripping off the clear coating, light sanding, and using an oil finish instead.
-Handguard: two rivets, stamped “RMC”, Quality Hardware or Rock-Ola
-Buttplate: unmarked with square checkering pattern.
-Recoil plate: unmarked
-Magazine: stamped MN”, National Postal Meter
-Sling and oiler: web, repro
