Description: Here is an original Savage model B Fox shotgun from its home domicile in North Mississippi. Manufacturer was Savage Arms of Westfield, Mass., so marked on the barrel. Water table markings are 7 Q B, with S, Sigma, 7 on the cocking plunger housing. From its C120000 range serial number, and from similarly numbered shotguns we have records on, it was manufactured in late 1976 or early 1977, part of a production run that ended in 1988. Construction is entirely steel metal except for the alloy forend hardware, alloy safety button, and polymer butt plate. Stock and forend are figured American walnut. Chambering is 12 gauge for 2 3/4 and 3 inch shells interchangeably. Barrels are 24 inches, with .712 Improved Cylinder right tube and .704 Modified Choke left tube. This shotgun, then, will function with any type shells, including steel shot and rifled slugs. Chambers have one piece extractor, not ejectors. Outside diameter is .815 at the muzzle. Sight system is 7 post .312 serrated top ventilated rib, with stainless front and matching downsized mid bead. Forend is wide beavertail type. Triggers are .275 smooth faced. Both pull at their original 7 to 7 1/2 pounds with minimal felt creep and moderate overtravel. Safety is tang mounted and transfer is mechanical. This Fox is breech cocking. Stock drop is 1 1/2 by 2 1/2, straightly aligned with the barrels and no right hand cast. Except for the lever and trigger positions, then, this shotgun will be southpaw friendly. Length of pull is 14 3/8 inches from the right trigger face to the end of the butt plate. Overall length is 40 1/4 inches. Weight empty is 6 pounds 14 ounces, centered at the breech pivot pin. Finish is polished surface blued steel barrels, triggers, breech lever and guard, with anodized alloy safety button, and with color casehardened receiver. Stock and forend are satin urethane finish with pressed checkering. Surface detractions are negligible. We rate this Fox B as Excellent Condition, 95 percent vicinity by our estimate, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Bore, chambers, and mechanism are all clean. We estimate this shotgun was fired fewer than 300 times during its career in the bean fields between Memphis and Oxford. It is attractive and eminently serviceable for bobwhite quail and even migratory birds of most any stripe. We’re offering it for only $ 759.00.
