Here is Remington's Tried and True 870 Pump Gun in its short barreled Tactical Configuration, with two stocks: one, a pistol grip; and two, a standard buttstock. It shipped from the factory with the pistol grip installed, but the standard buttstock is included. Manufacturer and warrantor is Remington Arms of Ilion, NY. Type is slide or pump action repeating shotgun. Construction is entirely steel metal, with exception of the polymer trigger group housing, forend, and buttstock or pistol grip. Barrel is 18 1/2 inch smooth bore, chambered for 2 3/4 inch or 3 inch shells interchangeably. Muzzle is .725 Diameter Cylinder Bore, compatible with any lead shot, steel shot, buckshot, or even rifled slugs. Sight system is welded base with steel bead front, and flat milled receiver top rear. Magazine tube is standard dimpled type with detent gears on the spring follower. Barrel does Not have a detent on its lug like the old 870s or like current production 870P. The magazine tube, then, will require permanent alteration and a longer spring before adding a 2 shot extension. Forend is thin corn cob serrated type semi beavertail. Cruiser type pistol grip is hard polymer serrated size with finger grooves. Operator should be prepared for the substantial recoil inherent in firing a 12 gauge pistol grip shotgun, to avoid injury. Overall length with the cruiser grip installed is 28 inches. Standard buttstock length of pull is 13 3/4 inches from the .225 smooth steel trigger face to the end of the 1 inch rubber recoil pad, with a 3/4 inch right hand cast, and with a drop of from 1 1/2 inches to 2 1/2 inches. Weight empty is 5 pounds 1 ounce with the pistol grip, or 7 pounds 8 ounces with the buttstock, centered at the breech face. Overall length is 40 3/4 inches with the buttstock installed. Finish is matte surface blued steel. Each 870 Tactical comes in its factory box with owner's manual, factory lock, factory registration papers, and both stocks.
