This is an excellent, like new, example of a Wildey Survivor Semi-Automatic pistol in .475 Wildey Magnum, an extremely powerful handgun cartridge. If Dirty Harry had had one of these, it would have given a new meaning to “Make My Day”. Charles Bronson carried one in Death Wish III.
The Wildey “AutoMag” pistols are intended for serious big game hunters that want to hunt with a pistol, and who were capable of using the features of the pistol to be effective in the field. Manufactured in New Milford, Connecticut, using a gas operated, rotary bolt, double-action, semi automatic design, Wildey’s are produced in stainless steel with either a matte (The Hunter) or a satin (The Survivor) finish . The pistols incorporate an adjustable feature that makes it possible for the shooter to fire different loads by adjusting the action. The pistol features a single shot cutoff as well, so that you can fire the pistol as a magazine fed semi-automatic or as a single shot.
Calibers available include the .44 Auto Mag, .45 Win Mag, .45 Wildey Mag, and the .475 Wildey Mag. Wildey offers a variety of interchangeable barrel lengths, including 5”, 6”, 7”, 8”, 10”, 12”, 14” and 18” (not all barrel lengths are available in all calibers).
The right side of the slide is marked "WILDEY / NEW MILFORD, CT. U.S.A.", the caliber is marked on the bottom of the barrel and the serial number on the left rear of the frame. The 8 inch barrel is equipped with a matte finish, vent rib with interchangeable blade front sight. The rear sight is adjustable for elevation and azimuth. The pistol is fitted with smooth laminated grips.
The overall condition is excellent, with 99% + original finish. A few light scratches and handling marks. The grips are excellent with only light handling marks. Weight = 4 pounds 5 ounces . Barrel length = 8 inches. Sighting Plane = 13 inches . Serial Number = 2386.
