This is the predessor to the Spitfire Machinegun. This was the one that slipped thru the cracks in the NFA. This has the same operating system, more or less,as the fully automatic Spitfire SMG. These are a very rare item. Main difference in this gun vs. a Spitfire is that the disconnector is also the ejector. Spitfires usually have the top of the disconnector cut off and an ejector welded in the tube upper. Also on this gun, the registered part is the tube upper and on a spitfire the reg. part is the lower receiver. Info can be had on the internet about the Eagle MK I, II, Spitfires, volunteer's, closed bolt volunteers, etc. These guns have about a 16 1/4" barrels and take a M3A1 grease gun mag with a D indentation on the LS top of mag. Also for ease of cleaning or transportation, the barrel unscrews from the registered upper receiver. This gun would also make a neat form 1 SBR conversion as it will shoot without the thompson style buttstock. Plus shorten your barrel and you got a winner! I too, have one of the largest collections of original replacement internal parts should this gun ever break down. If I don't have it in original format, I can have it made. No Illegal conversion questions will be answered unless you are an ATF licensed 07/02 Manufacturer This gun does have a few scratches on it as do all of them that are not NIB Also PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING THIS IS A 2 PART GUN. 1/2+- IS ORIGINAL AND 1/2+- IS CUSTOM. The upper receiver,lower receiver and all internals are original. This gun came to me with a broken stock, wrong handgrip, no barrel nut and no barrel. Being a resourceful person I had a barrel custom made and had it threaded 5/8 x 24 for a suppressor. The handgrip in the pic is from an early Eagle MK I. Besides that, somebody cranked down on the forward set screw(LS front)and it cracked a small section from the set screw forward. I fixed it with JB weld both in the crack and inside the handgrip and it is holding more than tight. I have a Tig welder but no gas shield so I could not put a lite hit to it with a rod. But it is fine like it is. You cannot even see the location of it. I installed another Thompson stock but if you want the original to fix I will give you that one instead. (Volunteers, Eagles, Spitfires all used thompson stocks so this is a moot point anyway) I had a custom barrel nut made which is NIB and better than a used original and like I said the barrel. I was thinking of making it into a MG since i am an 07/02 but I have not done it yet. I WILL ALSO THROW IN A ORIGINAL EXTRA BOLT WITH EXTRACTOR AND SCREW. The extractor cannot be found anywhere except here at J & S Gun Sales Anyway, that is the story.
