F. Dumoulin & Co. was a well known Belgian gunmaker from 1. The firearms produced by this firm varied from rifles, handguns, and shotguns of useable commercial grade, to the finest firearms ever coming from the well respected Belgium gunmakers. This gun is the latter...one of the nicest over/under guns I have seen in years. This gun, made in 1946, has all of the "BEST GUN" features; rounded action, 100% coverage vine/scroll/bouquet engraving by world renowned master engraver L. Smeets, including deep relief chiseled roses on the fences and a pierced top lever; highly figured European walnut stocks with drop points, checkered butt, 3 piece forend, stocked to the fences like a Purdey and perfect wood to metal fit; cocking indicators, articulated front trigger, double Kirsten locking bolts up top, double underlug locking bolts, barrel lug passes through frame, solid top rib, rolled edge trigger guard...the list is long! Then house the gun in a fantastic custom fit BROOKS AND THOMAS oak and leather case that is every bit as high quality as a Huey case or any case in the world and you have a very attractive package. I don't find many over/under guns that excite me, but when I find them with double triggers, 8 pin sidelocks, and an English style stock weighing less than 7lbs. AND IN 16GA., I get excited! The gun and case are in beautiful condition, the 28 3/8" barrels choked SK/LM (005/.016) have mirror bores and factory 2 3/4" chambers, and the stock dimensions are 14 5/8" x 2 1/4" x 1 7/16" x neutral cast. Finding comparable shotguns for sale is difficult, as most high end Dumoulin shotguns you will see are side by sides. Fine gun lovers know that full sidelock round action over/under guns are always considerably more expensive than a like side x side. An English over/under with these features would be hugely expensive. This gun and case is being offered at a very affordable price, especially considering the case is at least a $3500 replacement value. I bought this gun "right" so it is offered in a way that will make this a very good investment quality shotgun for the next owner. Don't hesitate and thanks for looking!
