Factory variant number is 14420. Type is traditional double and single action true swingout revolver. Chambering is .44 Smith & Wesson Special caliber. Construction is steel barrel assembly, main frame, cylinder assembly, and working parts; with alloy trigger guard and grip frame; and with factory rubber combat finger groove grips. Barrel is one piece 2 1/2 inch, with 8 groove right hand 18 3/4 rifling in a full lug shroud. Sights are solid rib integral ramp front with frame integral fixed notch rear. Cylinder is 5 shot, and the Charter accepts ammunition from a CA44 size speedloader. Trigger is .310 serrated face, with matching serrated spur hammer. Charters generally pull double action in the 12 – 14 pound vicinity, and 4 pound area single action, with minimal felt creep. Ignition is floating firing pin, with transfer bar safety mechanism that prevents the hammer from contacting the pin unless the trigger is fully depressed. Weight empty is 19 3/4 ounces, with center of gravity at the cylinder stop. This revolver is not a fun gun to shoot with full house loads. Main frame, barrel, and cylinder are matte blue with green zombie coloration tiger stripe accents, with a matching black anodized alloy grip frame / trigger guard. This Charter comes to us from Charter’s distribution system. It is what we call a factory demo, and likely served as a sales rep’s or writer’s sample. Surface detractions are minimal, only a small weak finish spot on the right side of the frame; and faint cylinder rotation marking and carbon on no more than 3 positions on the forward cylinder face. We rate it as Excellent, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. If it was ever fired, it was no more than 20 times. This Bulldog comes in its original box with instruction manual, parts list, Charter Decal, gun lock, YHSA brochure, and never executed factory registration form with Charter lifetime warranty statement.
