This gun has the Circassion Walnut Stock, which only 75 to 100 were made. Check out the article below: The Ruger Number 1AH is the crown jewel of our extensive line of Number 1 exclusive rifles. This rifle came to market due to a desire to create a Ruger Number 1 that was as close to a Dakota 10 as we could get, without the associated high price of the Dakota. I had a 1B in 25-06 for several years and, quite frankly, at 8lbs. without scope and right at 10 lbs. all loaded out, I didn't enjoy packing it around. Talking to lots of other Number 1 shooters confirmed my thoughts that a lighter weight version, that would retain most of the performance of the 1B, would have a place in the market. Being kind of enamored with the 25-06 caliber for this project, it was decided that the 22" 1A barrel would probably not be the best platform. After looking things over, we decided on a 24" lightweight "A" profile barrel with the slimmer, lighter Alexander Henry forend. To say these rifles came out nice is an understatement. They came in right at a pound and a half lighter than the 1B model and the 24" barrel didn't lose enough velocity to make any real difference on game. The first 3 shot group fired from my rifle with Federal Premium 100gr Triple Shok ammo produced a .360" group. To this day, this rifle hasn't fired a group larger than 3/4". Noted gunwriter John Barsness has had similar results with his rifle, as well as several of the guys at Lipsey's who have bought them. The special bonus on this model was that around 75 to 100 of the rifles produced were stocked in circassion walnut. This wasn't known to us until one of our sales representatives got a call from his customer thanking him for the extra fancy circassion wood on the rifle he received. Upon inspecting some of the rifles in our warehouse, we found out that around half had the circassion walnut. We have no way of knowing exactly how many were stocked this way as quite a few were sold before it was discovered, so this is a best guess on the amount.
