Barrel markings read left side – Winchester Mod 70 .270 Win Only -- / -- Winchester is a Registered Trademark of Olin Corporation. Right side markings read – Model 70 Ultimate Shadow – / Made in USA BA Co. Morgan UT. Construction is steel barrel, bolt assembly, trigger, and internal parts with an alloy floorplate and trigger guard assembly. Type is Controlled Feed, Pre-64 type Bolt Action High Powered Rifle. Chambering is .270 Winchester. Barrel is 24 inch medium tapered: .596 outside diameter at the recessed muzzle; .731 osd at the forend area; and 1.24 inch osd at the receiver face. Bore is 6 groove button rifled right hand 1:10 rifling. Receiver is Long Action, 4 11/16 inches clearance between a set of rings mounted on the included 2 piece Leupold Bases. Repositioning the rear base would decrease that to 3 5/8 inches. Magazine is BDL type internal, capacity 4 + 1 rounds of .270 Winchester Caliber ammunition. Safety is classic 3 position Winchester, full safe, load / unload safe, and fire. Trigger is .345 smooth faced adjustable, pulls single stage on its original crisp 3 1/2 pounds, with no felt creep and negligible overtravel. Stock is One piece graphite based, contoured polymer. Length of pull is 13 3/4 inches from the trigger face to the end of the 1 inch Winsorb, Decelerator type recoil pad.
