Manufacturer was Sig Sauer Systems of Eckenford, Germany. PWA Import stamp is on slide’s left side. Parts will interchange with old model P225, discontinued in 1998, but NOT with the new P225A1. This pistol served with the West German Federal Police, the Bundespolizei, with production dates that ran from 1978 up to 1983. Type is single stacked, traditional hammer fired double and single action semi automatic pistol. Caliber is 9mm Parabellum, 9x19, 9mm Luger, call it what you will, THE 9mm. Construction is steel barrel, slide, trigger, hammer, and internal parts built into an alloy frame with polymer grips. Slide is old style rolled construction, with serrated rear laterals. Sights are dovetailed black blade front and matching dovetailed rear that is drift adjustable only for windage. Barrel is new factory number 229T that our local engineers have shortened and fitted at the lug. Its length is 3.85 inches; bore is six groove right hand 1:10. Trigger is .250 smooth faced steel, 1 inch smooth 12 pound vicinity double action pull; single action, two stage at a crisp 5 1/2 pounds with minimal felt creep and overtravel. Hammer is .325 slotted type. Grips are factory checkered surface two piece polymer. Magazine is German factory Sig 8 rounder with dovetailed back closure, 8+1 capacity fully loaded. Overall length is 7 inches; height 5 1/2 inches; and slide thickness 1 inch at the port. Weight empty is 28.3 ounces. This pistol and its mates served as Trainers for the Bundespolizei, who had plugged their breech blocks. We replaced the breech block, extractor, and firing pins. Frame finish is original factory black anodized with only moderate amounts of edge wear. Slide, sights and barrel are Teflon finish by Black Ice Coatings in Utah. Surface detractions are minimal, then, edge wear on the frame and faint lateral wear on the grip panels. We rate this pistol and its mates as Very Good, perhaps even Excellent / Refinish, 85 to 90 percent by our estimate, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright, clean, and tight with no lateral play in the slide to frame fit. We test fired with 115 grain Mag-tech, and no hitches. Replacement pricing on the nearest thing in production, the Sig 225A1, is $1,175.00 on sigsauer com.
