Based on the construction-paint, I'm guessing vintage 1's western-cavalry movies. This is what's referred to in the movie business as a "backdrop" firearm. Hand painted aluminum upper with a wooden stock. Some metal parts like the sling bar, trigger and trigger guard. This is a neat iconic movie prop with a “been their -done it” look to it. I’ve never seen an 1873 Springfield Carbine movie prop before. This is a first. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was used in “The Horse Soldier” or one of John Ford’s Cavalry trilogy movies like Rio Grande or She Wore a Yellow Ribbon.
