Original double set triggers. This great rifle of a bygone era is in 98% condition with handsome engraving on bottom metal, trigger guard and various areas of the receiver, with stippled front ring and rear bridge, 99% rust blue. Markings show “KRIEGHOFF SUHL” on left barrel flat (maker) and “EMIL KERNER HAUS” on right barrel flat (distributor). The serial number is concealed under the stock, 14304. The classic butter knife bolt handle has a richly checkered underside for positive grip. The rich dark walnut stock shows much tiger tail figure in the butt stock and straight grain for strength through the action and forearm. The stock pattern is the popular high-end German/Austrian slender forearm with side panels and open grip. Masterful checkering is classic 3-point in 24 lpi executed with perfection, still with strong diamonds. Fixtures include a contoured horn pistol grip cap (showing a few minute flakes from age) and a checkered buttplate, all attached with engraved screws, original European sling swivels (front mounted on barrel, not stock) and engraved scope claw mounts -- but no scope -- and classic Mauser safety. The rifle still has its original open sights, a front sight gold bead and a two-leaf rear express sight (one standing, one folded) Action is cross-bolted for strength and action screws have locking screws.,.
